Join Heather and Carol for an intimate week on the Gulf Coast of Mexico in Akumal, just south of Playa de Carmen.  This pristine location will be our canvas for inspiring art projects, yoga at sunrise and delicious Ayurvedic meals. Be lulled to sleep to the sounds ocean waves and gently awakened by the sunrise. Beaches, snorkeling and town are within walking distance, making Villa Nicte Ha a perfect location for a winter break.

The Resort - Nicte Ha

A lovely Villa with ocean views located in Akumal in between Akumal beach and Half Moon bay beach Nicte-Ha (Mayan for "Water Lily") features ocean and pool view bedrooms. There is a full kitchen and dining area where we will come together for daily Ayurvedic breakfast and lunch. This welcoming home, offers family friendly amenities.  Each bedroom features a private bath and balcony with ocean view. 

Accommodations 

Villa Nicte Ha is a perfect setting for a small, intimate retreat and as such, we will be keeping registrations to 8 participants.  Each suite is booked and priced as occupancy for 3 to 4 participants.  We will pair you with your companion or with another guest.

This retreat allows you to restore, relax and retreat. We want your time with us to leave you feeling carefree and calm.  This retreat is perfect for anyone with an interest in expressing their creative talents, practicing yoga and meditation, and ayurveda cooking.  Heather will guide us in daily Yoga.  Carol will be filling your bellies with fresh made ayurvedic breakfasts and lunches, plus a bonus day of an ayurvedic cooking class!  

 

This all inclusive 8 day/7 night retreat is available to you at an investment of $1,899 per person, including airfare!

Other Information

Booking your flight

Flights will be booked as a group so we can travel together via air and ground transportation when we arrive in Cancun.  If you wish to plan your own airfare, contact Carol at carolnace@bodhi-ayurveda.com. 

Transportation

Transportation from the Cancun airport and back airport is included in your retreat package. Transportation to/from the day trips is also included in your retreat package.  All other transportation, such as additional trips to town, are not included, but can be arranged through your retreat leaders as needed. Costs associated with these additional trips are the participant's responsibility. 

Travel Insurance

Obtaining travel insurance to protect your investment in the retreat is each Participant's responsibility.  Though it is not required, it is highly recommended. 

Passport/Visa Requirements:

 

Traveling to Mexico requires a current, valid Passport for US citizens.  No VISA required.  Passport information and requirements can be found at the US Passport and International Travel website

Refunds

Your initial deposit of $400 is partially refundable at 50% for a limited time.  If you find an alternate to take your spot on the retreat, your deposit can be transferred to that person.  No refunds available within 60 days of the trip.

 

If the retreat needs to be cancelled for reasons directed by the retreat leaders or Nicte Ha owners, deposits will be returned.  If the retreat were to be rescheduled for any reason, you have the opportunity to reschedule or refund your deposit. 

Participant Expectations

In respect for all the participants on the retreat, we expect that all participants will treat each other with the utmost respect. We request that participants refrain from using profanities, consuming excessive alcohol or engaging physical altercations with other participants. We reserves the right to request any participant to leave the retreat due to misconduct or creating an unsafe environment. 

Bringing Children

Our retreat is best suited for mature children and adults.  As you consider bringing your child or children on the retreat, please note that there will not be special activities, child care or places for them to engage.  If your child is interested and in being involved with scheduled activities, we welcome them completely.  If you have any questions or concerns as to whether your child would enjoy or benefit from the experience, please contact Carol directly at carolnace@bodhi-ayurveda.com.  

What to Bring

January in Akumal will be cool mornings and warm, sunny, bright days!  Make sure you pack accordingly by including sunscreen, sunglasses and other sun protection.  Dress comfortably and modestly. Avoid revealing or extremely tight outfits, including for yoga.  

Monetarily, we may be required to use Pesos while in Mexico.  The need for money while at Nicte Ha will be minimal, as the only additional costs will be dinner and shopping. 

What NOT to Bring

We will not allow for any illegal substances (drugs), firearms or other weapons to be present on the retreat.  Violation of this policy may result in, but not limited to us requesting an early departure from the retreat. Whereas alcohol is allowed, we do encourage you to minimize your consumption during the trip. 

Travel Health Insurance

Obtaining health insurance for any trip outside the US is a personal choice.  It may be best to start by contacting your personal health insurance company to discuss what is or isn't covered when traveling to Mexico.  Based on that conversation, you can make the decision to obtain health insurance. 

Safety while in Mexico

The news about traveling in Mexico can leave one concerned about your personal safety.  Of course any travel has its risks, yet we will feel very safe while at Nicte Ha.  All our transportation from/to the airport, day trips and other requests can be done with Villa Ownership.  As you choose to travel outside the Villa on your own, it is important to make your location known by others and be aware of your surroundings.  Avoiding alcohol while in public spaces is also advisable.

Carol is a Certified Ayurveda Practitioner, Licensed Massage Therapist,  PanchaKarma technician and Functional Medicine Coach.  She founded Bodhi Ayurveda in 2011 and opened her Wellness Spa in 2015.  She offers a variety of traditional ayurvedic spa therapies, detoxification programs and educational workshops.  

 

Carol has studied with Vaidya Ram Kant Mishra, Dr. Vasant Lad, Dr. Avinash Lele and many other renowned leaders in Ayurveda. Carol compliments her Ayurveda as a Functional Medicine Wellness Coach, bringing the eastern and western approach to wellness together. Full bio

Heather Eiden

Yoga Instructor and

Art Educator

Heather is a contemporary folk artist, inspired by her travels to Mexico, Bali, India, Suriname and other locales in Europe with vibrant traditions of folk art enrich the visual language. She is inspired by the way children gaze upon the world with curiosity and integrates this into her own artistic ideas as they flow from one to the next like a child at play. Inspired by the natural world, organic shapes and the way living things germinate and grow, the art projects designed for your retreat will be influenced by the natural surroundings of our villa. 

Heather is also a Yoga Teacher, studying in the Himalayan and Iyengar traditions. Her classes are where you will find her creative flow as an artist merge.  Each class she teaches is an opportunity to create space for yourself in a well structured, yet playful way.
